I think we topped it.

Last year's party, that is.  It wasn't the goal.  It never is.  But some monster dressed as Martha Stewart puts me in a choke-hold usually around August and forces me to morph into one of those psycho soccer moms who has to have the right invitations and decor and fabric for their kid's birthday party, no matter if said kid might not remember it.  Then, about a week before the actual party, I call 911, remove the monster, and everything's okay.  But for a moment, it's touch and go.

So, this year, we decided on a pajama party theme...minus the sleeping over part.  I'm a bit quirky, people, but I'm not insane.  All of Millie's little girl friends wore pajamas and brought their sleeping bags.  We built a clubhouse in the backyard, which was one part "chair & sheet fort" mixed with two parts Ritz Carlton and a dash of Lady Gaga.  We had a pillowcase decorating station, a nail salon, and a boatload of dress-up stuff for the girls to raid.  A stack of pizzas, cupcakes, and a bedtime story later, they were zonked and ready for their parents to pick them up!  I think it was the perfect party, if I do say so myself.  Still, that glass of wine I had following the event sure did hit the spot.

Here are some of my favorite parts of the party.

Mom helped me rig the clubhouse so that the kids could rock the clubhouse!

Thumbnail image for mills4outsidedeetsCR.jpgThumbnail image for mills4stations1CR.jpgThank goodness for grandmothers.  Mills has 3, and each was armed with a very serious duty.  Mom was in the clubhouse helping with dress-up, Bobby's mom Dorothy was the "beauty operator" (as she likes to call it) at the nail salon, and Bobby's stepmom Lyn was the pillowcase painting supervisor.

They deserve a handclap and a half!

Thumbnail image for mills4paintCR.jpgThese eye masks were one of the party favors and were a BIG hit!  Sloan graciously offered to model one for me.

Sammy doesn't like the camera at all.  ;-)

Mason Olivia, aka "Mo", the lone 2 year old, had me in stitches laughing the entire evening.

Lyn made these phenomenal red velvet cupcakes that threw a kink into my diet.  YUM!

The girls had so much fun they had me wishin' I was 4.  Till next year!

Welcome!
I'm so very ecstatic that you decided to join the party.  It is my life's passion to keep you entertained through my photographs of weddings, babies, my family, and pretty much anything that moves me.

Stick around and become part of the family.
Come early, come often, leave comments.

I think we topped it.
