One of the sweetest, most gorgeous-inside-and-out girls I've ever met is this one right here. Rachel is definitely one of my favorite clients I have ever had the opportunity to work with. Such a down to earth girl fits perfectly into the Austin scene, right? So, before their insanely incredible wedding (which I also photographed), and before Colt swept her away to Cleveland, I wanted her to have an Unbridaled session that was truly reflective of where they fell in love.
We had a posse for this session, and it was a blast. While Rachel was getting her makeup done (she had already gotten her "hair did" by the fabulous Martha Lynn Barnes) at Kiss n' Makeup, Sarah Miller of Caplan Miller Events, Jessica of Serendipity Bridal and I drooled over the custom made Watters bridal gown hanging in the CME office. Also waiting for Rachel? An amazingly fragrant bouquet made my the genius that is David Kurio.
As soon as Rach was ready to roll, we hightailed it to Blue Star Cafeteria. Their funtastic wallpaper and turquoise booths combined with the outstanding window light made this an easy choice for me. The staff at Blue Star was uber-accommodating, and I sure do like to reciprocate kindness. So, everyone, go get your brunch on at Blue Star!!! You won't be sorry, and it will probably become one of your favorite hangouts.
Next up? Definitely on my list for top 5 coolest restaurants EVER, Ranch 616 had just the design and decor aesthetic I was looking for to showcase Colt and Rachel's wedding style. Cowhide, mid-century pleather chairs, cacti, Johnny Cash, chandeliers (DUH!), and again, wonderful helpful staff members, and 616 was a NO BRAINER. If you've never been, go there, and get a margarita. Heck...stay for dinner. It's guaranteed to knock your socks off!
Our final location? Mount Bonnell. As one of Austin's most breathtaking lookout points, we couldn't pass it up. Every hiker and picnicking family graciously stepped out of our way due to Rachel's obvious beauty (and a little prodding from her mom, Liisa!).
What a wonderful evening we had, and I hope these images will keep a little part of Austin in Rachel's heart! Love you, R + C!
